About Us

You have a choice of dance schools for your child, but we think you will find that the Brandywine Center For Dance offers everything you want. Our professional instructors help your child learn all the appropriate moves and develop an appreciation for ballet and other dance styles.

Studio Philosophy

We encourage our students to participate in family-oriented productions. A yearly recital, full-length winter ballets in Wilmington, DE, as well as parent visitation days and other performance opportunities, provide students with the self-confidence and presence fostered in our center with all of its activities. In age-appropriate classes, children learn in a positive, esteem-building environment. We emphasize technique and develop choreography at each level to display and enhance skills learned during each session. Each student, from youngest to oldest, is an integral part of our program. We believe that children should not have to learn in an overcrowded class environment. But rather, each child should receive the attention they deserve.

Bonnie Castagna, Director

A talented performer and gifted choreographer, Bonnie is also a dedicated and inspiring instructor. She studied in New York City at the Broadway Dance Center and Steps, with the famous Finis Jhung of the Joffrey and Harkness Ballet companies as well as studying with such Pennsylvania Ballet Company artists Paul Wagner and Tricia Connors. She has completed post-graduate studies with Betty Jones, the world-renowned Julliard instructor. Bonnie received extensive training in all dance disciplines and has danced professionally with several ballet companies. Ballets in her repertoire include The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Coppelia, and many others. Since her teaching career began in 1978, many of her students have gone on to seek performing arts careers. She was also the Director and Choreographer for Casablanca's Show Biz Kids.

We also have a multifaceted staff of professional teachers who are specialists in their performing arts field. We hold walk-in registration from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m., Monday-Thursday, or call for an appointment.

Fall Sessions: Saturday Morning, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
